Simply Candle Supplies is more than just a wholesaler, our people are the heart of the company. We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of them, who make SCS, SCS.
Lorraine is our go getter, warehouse team member. She’s fun to work alongside, is always bringing smiles and laughter to the team. Working part-time here so that she can follow her other passions and look after her family too.
Lorraine has had an interesting life, not only having her foster child for over 12 years but also being the proud mother of Amy, who started the charity Now I Can Run. Amy has lived with cerebral palsy and knew she needed to make a difference to those living with a disability. Through her charity she has been able to help others gain confidence and the equipment to get out and get active. She currently has two nominations for the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards and has had nominations for Young Australian of the Year previously too. Lorraine stands strong by her daughter, ensuring family is the centre of her life.
When Lorraine found herself to have a bit more free time in 2019, she wanted to help. The Australian community and signed up to the Army Reserves. When they offered her the job, she was keen to take it on board, knowing that everything happens for a reason. Since she has found herself excited to learn new skills, meet people from all walks of life and working in a loyal team environment. From bushfires to covid relief and floods, she has been there to help Australians across the country. Taking on a Quarter Master role, she handles logistics and management of transport, equipment and more.
This past week on her days off from Simply, she has been working with the Army Reserves in Chinderah and Tumbulgum to help those impacted by the floods. Working alongside the SES Volunteers to ensure the safety of those impacted, provide water, sandbagging and helping them to slowly get back on their feet.
While those in the affected flood areas have lost everything, Lorraine has been able to see the strong sense of community come out of these towns. They still have a good sense of humour and a can do attitude despite having lost everything. Her heart goes out to all those she has met along the way and is grateful for being able to help where she can.
Lorraine joined Simply Candle Supplies because her keen eye to detail has meant she has been able to translate her skills learnt not just in the Army Reserves but also from her life into her role here. Without her, Simply wouldn’t be the same, her fun and charismatic personality brightens the team each day, we’re proud she is a part of our SCS family.
